Deep River

Jean Rutty, 89, of Deep River, wife of the late Donald W. Rutty, passed away on Feb. 16 at the Middlesex Hospital in Middletown with family by her side.

Daughter of James and Margaret (Haas) Hoadley, Jean was born in Westbrook on Aug. 16, 1932, and was the youngest of eight children. She retired from Whelen Engineering Company, where she worked as a production assembler. Jean enjoyed her retirement years spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren. She was an avid fan of UConn women’s basketball team.

She will always be remembered with love by her sister Althea Foerch of Virgina, daughter Terri M. Doane of Deep River, sons and daughters-in-law Michael M. and Elizabeth Rutty of Westbrook and Russell J. and Shari Rutty of Hebron, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one great-grand border collie, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her loving husband, she was predeceased by her daughter Joanne M. Victoria; sisters Emily Hoadley, Eileen Johnson, Lillian Folson, Margaret (Peggy) Mockus, and Frances (Frannie) Schum; and brother William Hoadley.

The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to Middlesex Hospital for its wonderful care and compassion.

Funeral services will be privately held by the family. The Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home in Centerbrook has been entrusted with care of arrangements.
