Elda (Piccin) Johnson, 102, passed away peacefully on Feb. 15 in Scottsdale, Arizona. She was the daughter of Guiseppe Piccin and Paolina Bortoluzzi, who emigrated from Victorio Veneto, Italy and settled in Stafford Springs, where Elda grew up and graduated from high school.

Elda met her husband Arthur Johnson, a lieutenant JG in the Merchant Marines, and they married in 1945. They eventually settled in Madison, where they raised two sons, Kurt Johnson J.D. of Maryland and Greg Johnson DMD of Arizona.

Tragically she lost her husband in 1968. She then went to work for First Federal Savings and Loan until her retirement from Citizen’s Bank in 1990. Elda remained in Madison until moving to Arizona in 2015 with her son Greg. She was predeceased by her sister Ruth (Potz) and brother Robert.

She is survived by her sister Dorothy Roberts; her two sons and daughter-in-law Cinzia; and five grandchildren, Daria (Thomas Lavinio) of Connecticut, Erica (Christopher Mullen) of Arizona, and Lanae, Ashley, and Colin Johnson of North Carolina, as well as two great-grandchildren, Mila and Grayson Lavinio, and many nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held at a later date.
