Guilford/Madison

Audrey Redfield Condon, longtime resident of Guilford, Madison, and most recently Sun City, Arizona, passed away on Feb. 10 at the age of 89.

She is survived by her sister, Carol Deyerle of Payson, Arizona; her two cousins, Ruth Deaton of Newberry, Florida and Betty Risner of Sun City, Arizona; two grandchildren, Magen Redfield (Lewis) Smoot (Eddie C. Smoot II) of Asher, Oklahoma and Scott Bryan Lewis of Phoenix, Arizona; two great-grandchildren, Haley Helen (Lemon) Smoot and Aden Harry Smoot; and her four stepchildren, Walter E. Condon Jr., Eileen M. (Condon) McCann, Carol Anne (Condon) Bachhuber, and Lawrence Condon, as well as four step grandchildren, Steven C. Condon, Carley M. Condon, Amy E. (Bachhuber) Hall (Loren Hall), and Elizabeth G. McCann. Audrey was predeceased by her father Leslie B. Redfield and mother Ruth (Wilson) Redfield, her husband Walter Edward Condon, Sr., and her two sons, Leslie Redfield Lewis and Raymond Lewis.

Audrey grew up in East Haven until the age of 15, when her family moved to Arizona. As an adult, she moved back to Connecticut and married her beloved husband, Walter, and they lived many happy years together. Her loyalty and commitment drove her career managing Munger Lumber in Madison, until she retired in Sun City, Arizona. She also loved spending time in her mountain cabin overlooking Crown King, Arizona.

A strong, independent woman, Audrey had discerning taste. Those who knew her appreciated her marvelous wit. She was known for her impeccable counted cross stitch; she created countless works of art and gifted these heartfelt treasures to people she cared for. Audrey loved her family and will be dearly missed.

Friends are invited to calling hours from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26, at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church Street, Guilford.
