East Haven

John “Corky” Cacace, 90, of East Haven passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home on Feb. 3. He was born on Dec. 31, 1931, in East Haven to John and Josephine (Arcucci) Cacace.

Corky is survived by his two loving and devoted daughters, Patricia DeLucia (Anthony) of Guilford and Linda Hennessey (Thomas) of East Haven, along with five grandchildren he adored, Anna DeLucia German (Chris), Thomas Hennessey (Jessica), Michael Hennessey (Victoria), Steven Hennessey (fiancée Taylor), and Patrick Hennessey. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Michael Hennessey, Joseph Hennessey, Olivia Hennessey, Isabella Hennessey, Liliana Hennessey, and Connor German. Corky was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Patricia “Pat” (Solevo) Cacace (2014), and his seven siblings, Anthony, Frank, Joseph, Agnes Hainer, Mary Marino, Anna Rocco, and Rose Cacace.

Corky served his country honorably in the Korean War and was discharged in 1954. He was a carpenter by trade, owning his own company, JC Builders, for 45 years. After retirement, Pa Cork was always ready to help the grandkids with a hammer in hand. He enjoyed his summer vacations with his family at Lake George and Saratoga. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There was never a day that someone would say, “I saw your father at Stop & Shop.” He truly was a good friend to many people. He will now be happily reunited with his loving wife, his “mate,” for all time.

Family received friends on Feb. 6 at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, East Haven. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Feb. 7 in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul, East Haven with committal and full U.S. Army military honors following at East Lawn Cemetery, East Haven.
