Madison

Robert C. Hart, 100, of North Branford and formerly of Madison, passed away peacefully at his home on Jan. 25.

He was the son of the late Charles J. Hart and Cecil Hart Albraccio. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years Marie and his brother Kenneth C. Hart. He is survived by his son Richard C. Hart and his sister Lois Bice.

He was a long-time resident of Madison. He attended Hand Academy and graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in mechanical engineering. In 1943, he entered the Army Air Corps and became a pilot. He flew a C-47 in England, France, and Germany until the end of World War II. After college he went to work as an engineer at Ponds Extract Company in Clinton. After 13 years he resigned and became engineering manager at R.R. Donnelley and Sons Company in Old Saybrook. In 1975 he started a land surveying business which he operated until his retirement in 2012. Mr. Hart was a former member of the Madison Beach Club and Madison Winter Club.
