Branford

Jeff A. Potter, 59, of Branford passed away peacefully on Dec. 10, 2021, at Yale New Haven Hospital after a brief illness. Jeff was born in Cooperstown, New York on Sept. 2, 1962, to Mary L. Potter and the late Neil A. Potter. He was the beloved husband and companion of Michele A. Potter and father of Nicole M. Potter of Branford.

Besides his wife and daughter, Jeff leaves his brothers Jonathan Potter and Jeremy Potter (Lauren) of upstate New York. He also leaves his dear Uncle Phil (Debbie) of Florida; cousins Kevin (Teri) Potter of upstate New York, Lori Ann Powers (Anthony) of South Carolina, and Ricky Potter (Emily) of Massachusetts; his in-laws Bill and Nancy General of New Haven; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Jeff was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, East Shore Congregation in New Haven. He faithfully carried out his ministry to the best of his ability, right to the end, despite several health challenges over the years.

He attended Edmeston Central High School and BOCES trade school, where he learned amazing skills in woodwork. He went on to work as a carpenter for Local 24 union and later became a tractor trailer driver for Pepsi, Bozzuto’s, and DW Transportation. Jeff was a very hard worker from teenage years to adulthood and took pride in everything he did.

Anyone who knew Jeff understood his quirky sense of humor. He enjoyed bantering back and forth with family and friends just to get a reaction, but that was how he let you know he liked you a lot! Jeff was a true country boy and one of his favorite vacation spots was Nashville, Tennessee. While raising their daughter, they went to Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire, taking in the beautiful, serene lake and picturesque sunsets. His last vacation was in the Poconos, where he looked forward to picking up his favorite chicken pot pies and Buffalo chicken tenders.

Our Jeff, (never Jeffrey, unless you were brave), will be missed as he rests peacefully in the sleeping car on the train heading to a paradise soon to come.

A Zoom memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022. Contact family for details.
