East Haven

Richard A. Barrett, 80, of East Haven passed away on Dec. 5 at home. He was born Nov. 12, 1941, in St. Albans, Vermont, to Ralph and Grace (LaFargue) Barrett. Richard is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Marie (Coderre) Barrett, and children Raymond Averitt (Lauren Mancini Averitt) of New Haven, Rose Scinto (Ronnie) of East Haven, Trece Barrett Dail (Jerry) of New Hampshire, Cynthia Lawler (Michael) of Virginia, and Melissa Aguilar (Edward) of Fairfield. He is also survived by his grandchildren Chellsey Wieliesz (Raymond), Elizabeth Young (Jonathan), Jaclyn Rosebrock (Justin), Justin Averitt, Tobias Barrett, Jake Aguilar, Teagan Lawler, and Leyna Aguilar, along with his great-grandchildren Tyler, Payton, JJ, Greyson, and Aubrie and a sister, Mary “Honey” Coderre. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ralph and Charlie Barrett.

Richard was a proud Marine who honorably served his country for four years. He retired from Atlantic Wire after 30 years of service. He was a member of the VFW, loved working with wood, and could fix/build anything. He was a very loved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be missed deeply by all.

Family received friends until the time of service on Dec. 8 at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, East Haven. A graveside service with full military honors was held on Dec. 9 in the State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown.
