East Haven

Lawrence “Larry” Palermo, Sr., 72, of East Haven passed away on Nov. 30. He was born July 24, 1949, in New Haven to Angelo and Marion (Burr) Palermo. Larry is survived by his loving wife, Gabriella (Kirbs) Palermo, and his son, Lawrence “Little Larry” Palermo (Danielle) of Exton, Pennsylvania, along with one granddaughter he adored, Gabriella Palermo. He is also survived his sister Barbara Kaplan of North Haven, mother-in-law Gerlinde Kirbs of West Haven, and many nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Clarence Wood.

He graduated in the Class of 1967 from Eli Whitney in the Auto Mechanic program. He was a correctional officer for the State of Connecticut at both the Whalley Avenue and Cheshire facilities and retired after 21 years of service. He was an avid Harley Davidson enthusiast who enjoyed riding and was involved in the Christian Motorcycle Association and the Blue Knights and was a HOG member. He enjoyed his “Oldies” music like no other. He liked a good cigar and a beer and hanging out with his “Sadie dog.” He was an AWESOME detailer of all of his vehicles/anything with wheels. The detailing supply companies will miss him as will all of us.

Family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until the time of service at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 7, in the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Avenue, East Haven. Burial will be private.
