Madison

Barbara Elizabeth Hartmann, 86, of Madison, passed away on Nov. 19 at home after a brief illness. Barbara was born April 2, 1935, in Shelton to the late Elizabeth Prislopsky. Barbara grew up in Shelton and settled in Madison more than 50 years ago. She graduated from Scranton High School, Scranton, Pennsylvania in 1952.

Barbara was employed by many companies during her long career as a secretary and administrative assistant, including B.F. Goodrich, Custom Marine, Inc., Baldwin-Boyer Real Estate, and Yale University in the Investments and Real Estate Office, from which she retired in 1999 to care for her mother.

She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed gardening, time spent with family, crossword puzzles, and Irish music. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren.

She is survived by and will be dearly missed by daughter Catherine Akers and grandchildren William, Nataya, Janie, and Austin Akers. She was predeceased by the love of her life, Jack Sullivan.

Services will be private at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Madison Ambulance Association, or North Madison Fire Department.
