Old Saybrook

William B. McGeorge, Jr., 90, passed away peacefully on Nov. 12 at his home in Old Saybrook. Bill was born in Greenwich Hospital on June 7, 1931, to the late William Brimble McGeorge and Margaret (Jones) McGeorge and spent his first 18 years in Greenwich, graduating from Greenwich High in 1949. He graduated from UConn in 1953 (B.A. in history) and in September enlisted in the Army as a second lieutenant. He served until June 1955 when he was discharged a captain.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 44 years, Ann (Binney) Elizabeth (Beck) McGeorge, in 2009. They married in 1965 and lived in New York City where Bill worked for advertising firms before joining the J.C. Penney Co. Bill and Binney left New York in 1973 for Roxbury, Connecticut, where he built his own home, ran for first selectman, and spent eight years on the Region 12 (Bridgewater, Roxbury, and Washington) School Board.

In 1980, Bill and Binney built a second home next door to the first. Bill became a property manager, handling properties in Roxbury, Old Saybrook, and Virginia. In 2000 they moved to a new house in Old Saybrook. Bill and Binney lived a quiet life, enjoying reading—history for Bill and historical novels and mysteries for Binney.

Bill is survived by his nephew William Bruce McGeorge of Trumbull, Bruce’s wife Fadia, and their children John and Laila; another two nephews and a niece; and Bill’s cousins, Priscilla Joy Tingley of Pflugerville, Texas and Robert Dunn of Trumbull.

Per his wishes, there are no services.
