Clinton

Nicholas Alexander Ketre of Clinton passed away at home on Nov. 18.

Some called him Nick and others called him Alex, but all will remember him fondly.

He was born on Sept. 10, 1932, in New Haven, the son of Nicola and Anna Ketre. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and spent most of his enlistment stationed overseas.

Multiple generations of families in Clinton and along the Connecticut shoreline will remember him as Coach Ketre from his many years coaching youth football and his countless hours spent filming games and practices. He was a lover of big dogs and an avid watcher of all sports, especially any game played by his UConn Huskies.

His family and friends will remember him as often being behind the camera. He enjoyed taking photos and movies of any event and his favorite subjects were his beloved grandkids.

Grandpa Nick is survived by his wife Lorraine Grimmer Ketre; they were married and inseparable for 62 years. He is also survived by his daughter Sheryl Senior and her husband John of Cheshire and his grandchildren Sydney and Spencer Senior. He was predeceased by his son Douglas Ketre and siblings Mary Ann Ketre, Helen Klim, and Walter Ketre.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to UConn Athletics at https://www.foundation.uconn.edu/fund/fight-on-fund/. To sign the online guest book, visit www.swanfh.com.
