Gloria F. Sack, 91, of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and Madison, Connecticut, died peacefully on Oct. 31, while in the loving and compassionate care of family and hospice. She was laid to rest Nov. 3, in the Beaver Brook Cemetery in Clinton.

She was born the middle of three children in West Hartford to Rose and Hyman D. Freedman. As a child, she was a sports enthusiast and enrolled in Ithaca then Emerson College as a physical education major. At age 19, with the passing of her father, she returned home to help her brother, Seymour, in running the family electrical contracting business. She and her husband of 68 years, Edward J. Sack, married in 1952 and raised two boys, David and John. After, while living in Manhattan, she worked as a sales person at Mittman Furniture. She and Ed traveled extensively throughout the world and were dedicated members of Temple Beth Tikvah in Madison.

The Sack family lived in West Hartford, Harrison, New York, and Manhattan, New York, and joyfully spent summers in Madison. She and Ed retired to Palm Beach Gardens.

She was predeceased by her brother Seymour Freedman and her son John H. Sack (wife Siobhan). She is survived by her husband Edward J. Sack, sister Phyllis Levinson, sister-in-law Sherry Freedman, son David L. Sack (wife Suzanne), and two grandchildren, John (Sam) Sack and Casey A. Sack.

Gloria was a remarkable woman of her generation. She met life with determination, grace, and dignity and was unshakable in her devotion to family. She loved the movies and golf and was an avid reader, card player, knitter, and needle pointer. She was a cherished wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and girlfriend. Her effervescent presence will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her.
