He was born April 23, 1928, in Saltcoats, Scotland to Johnetta Mitchell Aitken and John Boag Erskine. They came to the United States aboard the Transylvania in 1929 and settled in Stamford. “Archie” graduated from Stamford High School and Bridgeport University. He met and married his high school sweetheart Elise “Betty” Pratt. They were married for 40 loving years.

Archie enlisted in the Navy and served from 1948 to 1953 aboard the ships USS Gainard, USS Ingersoll, and USS Washington.

In 1963 Archie and Betty moved to Madison where they raised their two children Joyce Grassl and Scot Erskine. Archie continued to work at Southern New England Telephone Company in New Haven.

Archie was predeceased by his wife Betty and grandson Corey Erskine.

In 1993 he married Faye Sherman D’Lizarraga. They were married for 28 wonderful years.
