Clinton

Robin “Robbie” MacKinnon, 70, passed away peacefully at home Oct. 21, after a short and brave battle with renal cell carcinoma. Rob was born May 12, 1951, in Milo, Maine and grew up in Bristol, where he and his wife Nancy raised Jason and Max. Rob and Nancy enjoyed many years entertaining family and friends at their cottage on Bantam Lake. In 2011 he and Nancy built their beach home in Clinton, where he retired after 38 years at Pratt & Whitney. During his retirement, Rob enjoyed life at the shore, kayaking, boating, bike riding, and dinners at Lenny & Joe’s and Westbrook Lobster. Rob also enjoyed a good cold beer and backyard fires with family, friends and neighbors. He was a proud member of the Westbrook Elks Lodge 1784.

Rob leaves behind his wife Nancy of 37 years and his son Max of Litchfield, Maine, Max’s partner Jamie Deweese and her two sons, Mason and Chase. Rob also leaves his stepson Jason Folcik of Bristol, his wife Regina and his grandson Jason Daniel, of whom Rob was very proud. He is also survived by his sister Ronda Worcester of Fredericksburg, Virginia, his sister-in-law Linda Hood of Westbrook, and a very special brother-in-law and partner in crime for more than 50 years Danny Hurley of Loudon, New Hampshire and his wife Judi. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, and cousins whose support was greatly appreciated during his illness.

He was predeceased by his parents, George and Orpha MacKinnon; his father- and mother-in-law, Daniel and Lenore Hurley; his sister-in-law Susan Hurley; and brother-in-law David Hood.

Nancy and family would like to thank Middlesex Hospital Hospice for their wonderful in-home care. Nancy is also thankful for wonderful neighbors and friends for their kindness and support during such a difficult time.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Luddy & Peterson Funeral Home & Crematory of New Britain. A memorial service honoring Rob’s life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The V-Foundation for Cancer Research at V.ORG or the charity of your choice.
