Westbrook

Thomas William Lawrence of Westbrook and formerly of Madison passed away on Oct. 23, at home. He was born March 15, 1934, in Hartford, the son of Ernest and Mary Lawrence.

He graduated from Bulkeley High School in 1952, attended the University of Connecticut, and graduated from Trinity College. He then served with the United States Air Force, spending one year in Alaska, which he loved. After the Air Force, he worked for The Southern New England Telephone Company in various management positions. He then went to work for a real estate and home building company, then had his own custom home building company until he retired. At one point in the 1960s he served as liaison officer for the United States Air Force Academy to help with recruiting.

In his younger days, he liked to bike, hike, and cross-country ski and enjoyed several years sailing around Long Island Sound. He was a dog lover, having grown up with his Lassie. But the last dog was always the best dog and his favorite. Now that would be his fourth Doberman Blue, who misses him terribly.

Tom is survived by his wife of 58 years, Gail; children Mark Lawrence and his wife Narissa of Boynton Beach, Florida, Nancy English and her husband Michael of Winter Park, Florida, and Gary Lawrence and his wife Judith of Ridgefield; grandchildren Haley and Austin English, Robert Lawrence and his wife Natalia, Rebecca Lawrence, and Isabelle Lawrence.

Services will be held at a later date and will be private.
