Killingworth

Virginia Louise Walton Chapman passed peacefully in Middletown on Oct. 17. “Ginny” was born May 19, 1941, the daughter of Donald and Mary Walton.

Ginny was the first kindergarten teacher in Killingworth. Her most memorable job working was with the town and the library patrons where she became the head librarian at Killingworth Library. Many locals and their children would come to know and love her, as Ginny always made sure to make everybody feel welcomed and comforted by paying them individual attention when they visited the library. One of her many passions was working with the local community, especially children.

One of Ginny’s favorite pastimes was going on trips with her husband and friends. She enjoyed sharing her adventures that unfolded with others, like the one time she and her beloved husband Alan Chapman traveled throughout the U.S. for six months.

Ginny is survived by her husband Alan Chapman and their children, Mark Chapman and Amy Wolf. Ginny is also survived by her sister Margaret “Peggy” Kinne of Florida and was predeceased by her brother David Walton of Killingworth.

We ask if you can join us to come and share a story or memory of Ginny as she has touched so many lives. Her memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13, at Parmelee Farm, 465 Route 81, Killingworth. In lieu of flowers, contributions or donations may be made to the Killingworth Congregational Church.
