Joyce Sidwell (Wilson) Neely, 89, of Old Saybrook peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on Oct. 27. She was the beloved wife of the late Ralph Maynard Neely who predeceased her Nov. 24, 2019. Joyce was born Aug. 2, 1932, the daughter of the late Ernest and Sidwell (Beecher) Wilson. She was predeceased by her three brothers, Warren, Ernest, Jr., and Fred, and her sister Phyllis Kelley.

Joyce leaves her children Joyce Browning and her husband Carlton, of Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts, Ralph M. Neely, Jr., and his wife Louise of Old Saybrook, Linda Mengel and her husband Guy of Bealeton, Virginia, Kathy Johnstone and her husband Jeff of Ashland, Virginia, and Pam Rankin and her husband Jay of Old Saybrook. She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. They were all loved and important to her.

Joyce enjoyed oil painting and singing. Family was always in her prayers. She loved her husband of 69 years well and faithfully. Joyce was diligent and particular about her responsibilities and affectionate, had a good sense of humor, and was fun. We had many a laugh over her vivid imagination.

A celebration of life service was held on Nov. 1 at The Emmanuel Baptist Church, 195 Old Boston Post Road in Old Saybrook. Interment will be privately held in the Cypress Cemetery in Old Saybrook.
