Clinton

Frederick John Harris, Sr., of Clinton passed away Oct. 28, in Middletown, after a brief illness. Fred was predeceased by his loving wife Patricia I. Harris. He was born in Glen Grove, Long Island, Feb. 6, 1937, son of the late John Frederick Harris and Santa Rosemary (Vitale) Harris. He lived in Clinton for 50 years, and was a snowbird in Arcadia, Florida.

He graduated from New Haven College, earning his associate of science degree in mechanical engineering. He worked for Ramset/Olin Company for many years as well as HB Ives Company of New Haven. He served in the United States Air Force as a member of the 42D Field Service Squadron.

He was a member of the St. Mary’s Church in Clinton. He was involved in coaching Little League and the Cub Scouts.

Fred is survived by his daughter Cathleen Harris O’Sullivan (Brian) and his son Frederick John Harris, Jr. He also leaves behind his sister Lila Testa and his brother Raymond Harris; his four grandchildren, Ashley (Patrick) Dopieralski, Patrick (Marla) Lewis, Neil Patrick Harris, and Matthew Harris; and his great-grandchildren, Halie, Lyliana, Kaidence and Madelyn. He is predeceased by his brother George Harris and sister Dee Webber.

A memorial service will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 6, at Swan Funeral Home, 80 East Main Street in Clinton. Burial will be following the service at Beaverbrook Cemetery.
