Guilford

Rosemary (DeMichele) DeMartino, longtime resident of Guilford passed peacefully on Oct. 22 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Wife of the late Ralph J. DeMartino. Rosemary was born in New Haven on Dec. 24, 1942, daughter of the late Anthony DeMichele and Anna (Guarine) DeMichele.

Loving mother of Nancy DeMartino of Guilford, Ralph DeMartino (Allison Donlon) of Guilford, Robert DeMartino (Stacey Papa) of Guilford, and Joseph DeMartino of Branford. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Jordyn, Joshua, Emma, Elijah, Nicky, and Michael. She was the sister of Lee Amarante and was predeceased by her siblings Anthony, Larry, Pat, Freddy, Lucille, and Eddie.

Before retirement, Rosemary had worked as nurse’s aide at Evergreen Woods for 10 years. She enjoyed her patient and treated her with kindness and care. Rosemary enjoyed watching her kids and grandkids play sports. She also loved to garden, cook, watch game shows, and go out to restaurants.

Rosemary loved to tell people how she met her husband. She met her late husband, Ralph, while at a ballpark in New Haven. Ralph saw a young lady in the stands. He asked Rosemary, “Hey Tex, what do you want me to hit for you?” Rosemary replied, “A home run.” Ralph only got a triple for her, and the rest is history…

Friends are invited to a visitation from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 27, at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church Street, Guilford. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. George Church, 33 Whitfield St, Guilford. Burial will follow in St. George Cemetery, Hubbard Rd, Guilford.
