Guilford

A loving tribute to our father Joseph G. Lexton (known to his family and friends as “Joe”):

Although we were blessed to have our father for so long in our lives, one still is never prepared for when the final day comes. Our father passed away on Oct. 8, peacefully at Yale New Haven Hospital.

Our father was a man of few words; he let his actions speak to who he was as a person. The quote “Actions speak louder than words” exemplified our father. His actions were more impactful than just his words alone. Its these actions that have made a lasting impression on his two twin daughters (Janice and Robin) and everyone who knew our father. His actions taught us to work hard, be honest, and always be kind to others. What our father gave us during his 91 years of his life was immeasurable. Our father was grateful for what he had and what others did for him. He was always gracious and thanked people. It’s now our opportunity to thank you, Dad, for all you did for us.

On behalf of your twin daughters, we want to take this opportunity to say “Thank you Dad!” Although a common expression of gratitude, but not said often enough.

Thank you Dad for always being there for us.

Thank you Dad for your care and compassion all through our life.

Thank you Dad for all the times we shared together.

Thank you Dad for the wonderful memories that we will carry with us forever.

Thank you Dad for teaching us that actions do speak louder than words.

Thank you Dad for the sacrifices you made to give us all that we have.

Thank you Dad for being the BEST father ever.

Thank you Dad for being not only our father, but a best friend.

Thank you Dad for showing us that love and kindness still matters.

Thank you Lord for every day that we had our father for as long as we did.

We love you Dad to the moon and back! Forever your loving daughters, Janice and Robin.

There will be no calling hours. Burial will be private at the cemetery. To honor our father, there will be a celebration of life service with family and friends at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14, at the First Baptist Church of Branford (975 Main Street, Branford). Arrangements are in the care of the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church Street, Guilford. To share a memory or leave condolences, visit www.guilfordfuneralhome.com.
