Mary Lynn Kirby, 51, of Madison passed away on Sept. 19 at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven.

Mary Lynn was born in Troy, New York, on Feb. 25, 1970, daughter of Thomas Robert and Marian Day (Burritt) Kirby of Madison. She was a graduate of Breck School, an Episcopal college preparatory school in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She attended Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts, and received her bachelor of arts degree in photography from the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She obtained a master of fine arts degree from the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in Manhattan, New York, and after graduation taught at SVA.

Mary Lynn became a systems administrator at Blue Sky Studios, a computer animation film studio and a division of Fox located in Greenwich. She worked with a vast bank of computers, using specialized software to help create films, including the acclaimed feature film Ice Age. She retired in 2012 and moved to Madison.

Besides her parents, Mary Lynn leaves her sister and brother-in-law Dawn Kirby Foote and Arthur Middleton Foote III of Old Greenwich, her aunt Elizabeth Kirby of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, her uncle Robert Kirby of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, and her beloved Chihuahua, Harrington.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25 at the Woodward-Mattoon Memorial Chapel in Evergreen Cemetery, 183 North Street, Watertown. Burial of ashes will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main Street, Watertown.
