Guilford

Edward J. Janicki, longtime resident of Old Lyme, passed away on Sept. 6 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. Mr. Janicki was born in New Haven on Nov. 26, 1953, and was raised in Guilford, son of the late Romauld J. Janicki and Dorothy (Donegan) Janicki.

He was the loving father of Edward R. Janicki, Kaitlyn Fagan, Adam Janicki, son-in-law Christopher Fagan, daughter-in-law Sara Janicki, and soon-to-be daughter-in-law Elizabeth Sharp.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Xyanye Ocean Janicki and Emma Juliet Fagan, with another grandchild, William Fletcher Janicki, due in October 2021. He was the brother of David Janicki, Martin Janicki, Michael Janicki, Catherine Fanning, and Mary Higgins and predeceased by his older brother, Richard Janicki.

Before retirement, Ed had worked as a self-employed contractor for more than 40 years. In his younger years, he also worked as an independent insurance agent.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, family, and friends, playing poker, going to the firing range, watching action movies, and coaching youth sports. He had a love for animals and a passion for restoring and collecting classic cars.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Sept. 14, at St. George Church, Guilford. Burial was held privately.
