East Haven

Sabatino “Sam” Diglio of East Haven, beloved husband of Carla Cagliotti-Diglio, died at home on Aug. 22, surrounded by his loving family.

Sam was born in New Haven July 9, 1947, to the late Dominick and Rita (Gaudio) Diglio. He was a heavy equipment operator for Local 478 Operating Engineers. Sam was a big fan of NASCAR Racing and enjoyed going to the races at Stafford Springs. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, Chicago Bulls, and Uconn Women’s Basketball.

Sam also enjoyed gardening, riding his motorcycle, relaxing under the grapevine in his yard, and hosting several bonfire parties with friends, family, and neighbors. He could build, paint, or fix anything and was everyone’s “go to guy.”

He was a loving and devoted father to Dominic Diglio and Christina Cagliotti-Diglio; loving father/grandfather to Brayanna Diglio; loving grandfather of Dominic and Samantha Diglio; God-given grandfather of Natalia, Isabella, and Stella Ciarleglio; and brother of Denise Diglio-Wenzel. He was predeceased by his mother and father-in-law Frank and Josephine (Laucella) Cagliotti.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, in St. Anthony Church, 25 Gold St. New Haven. Burial will be private. The Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc., is in care of his arrangements.
