Branford

Doris Skroza Jacobson, 93, of Branford passed away Aug. 18, 2021, after a brief illness. She was born Feb. 14, 1928, in Hartford, to Thomas and Mary Skroza. After moving to Branford as a young girl, she graduated from Branford High School and married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Jacobson, and they settled in Branford.

She was predeceased by her husband and is survived by her sister Eleanor S. Prokupek; her daughters, Nancy McGinley (Doug), Kathy Richter, and Greta Kraszewski; 10 loving grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, all who called her Gramma Dory; and several nieces and nephews.

Doris retired at age 74 from Yale University as the executive assistant to the comptroller. She was known for her friendly smile, a person to turn to, and a classy dresser. She loved traveling to Cape Cod with her family and around the world with her husband. She enjoyed her church, gardening, bowling, entertaining, music and dancing, the UConn women’s basketball team, swimming in the ocean and pool, playing a good game of Scrabble, and most of all being with her family.

Her family wants to thank Barbara and Giana for their loving care and Arnona and John for always being there. There will be a celebration of her life with family and friends at a later date.
