East Haven

Grace Vallas, 90, of East Haven passed away on Aug. 22, at Apple Rehab in East Haven. She was born on Aug. 18, 1931, in New Haven to William and Mary (Barbaro) DelCorte.

Grace is survived by her son David Vallas (Deborah) of Branford and daughter Sandra Singer (Thomas) of North Branford, along with five grandchildren, Nicholas Vallas (Lyn), Christopher Vallas, Timothy Keegan Jr., Justin Rogers, and Grace Singer. She is also survived by her three great-grandchildren, Zachary, Ella, and Tess Vallas. Grace is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Janet Keegan, and siblings Josephine DePaolo, Nicholas DelCorte, and William DelCorte.

Grace will be missed dearly by her family and friends. Her love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was immeasurable. She was in the banking field for 20-plus years, working at Bank of Boston and Dime Savings. She was an avid poker player, enjoying family poker games, tournaments, and trips to the casino. For a quiet woman, she was very competitive and was an excellent duck pin and 10 pin bowler. She also enjoyed watching and cheering on the Red Sox and UConn Huskies basketball teams.

Family will receive friends from 9 until 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 30, in the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Avenue, East Haven, at which time her funeral procession will leave for a 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at the Church of Our Lady of Pompeii, 355 Foxon Road, East Haven with committal to follow at All Saints Cemetery, North Haven.
