Guilford

Robert “Bobby” Gozzi, lifetime resident of Guilford, passed away on Aug. 16.

Robert was born Nov. 1, 1959, the son of the late Bruno J. Gozzi and Concetta (Malangone) Gozzi.

He was the loving father of Amanda Lynch of Belmont, Massachusetts and Kevin Gozzi of Brookline, Massachusetts, and the brother of John Gozzi of Cheshire and Paul Gozzi of Westbrook. He was also the proud uncle of several nieces and nephews.

Robert graduated from Guilford High School in 1977 and later received a Bachelor of Science from the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources from the University of Connecticut in 1981.

Robert was truly a man of the earth and sea, spending many a morning watching the beauty of the sun rising over the open ocean. In addition to being an accomplished commercial fisherman, he spent decades working as a carpenter and on the Gozzi Turkey Farm.

Robert’s hobbies included sport fishing, hunting, playing softball for Fonicello’s, competitive Scrabble, and making jewelry and lamps from sea glass he collected over the years. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends.

Family and friends are invited to pay respects and celebrate Robert’s life from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28, at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church Street, Guilford. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Habitat for Humanity at www.habitat.org/support. Arrangements are in the care of the Guilford Funeral Home.
