Westbrook

Thomas Domenic Armentano, 88, of Westbrook passed away peacefully at his home on Aug. 15.

Thomas was born Dec. 13, 1932, to Gaetano and Anna (Presta) Armentano, in Hartford. He was the beloved husband of Ruth (Romanelli) Armentano for 60 years. He is survived by his wife Ruth (Romanelli) and his five children, Anna-Maria Amato of Old Saybrook, Anita Zawislinski of Bolton, Thomas D. Armentano, Jr., and his wife Krista of Painted Post, New York, Andrea Armentano and her husband Edgar Bonilla of Naples, Florida, and Matthew Armentano and his wife Sheri-ann of Naples, Florida. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Marisa Krueger and her husband Shane, Danielle Berry and her husband Matthew, Dallas Armentano, Matthew Zawislinski, USMC Sgt. Colin B. Morris, Jr., Lucas Morris, Gabrielle Armentano, and Gillian Armentano. Additionally, Tom is survived by his brother Francis Armentano and his wife Barbara and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was predeceased by two brothers, three sisters, and one granddaughter.

Tom was a graduate of St. Augustine School, as well as Bulkeley High School, Hartford, in 1950. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut, in 1954. Tom proudly served his country in the United States Army Medical Corps for two years, and then received a master’s degree in public health from the University of Massachusetts in 1960. He served the public, in the public health field, for 45 years in Norwalk and Meriden and retired from the Town of Cromwell Health Department in 2005. Tom’s greatest joys in life were his wife, his children, and his grandchildren. Tom was a constant source of love, compassion, story-telling, and laughter for his family.

The family would to express its deep gratitude to the Hospice at Home caregivers and Health Care Angels of Middlesex Health, Golden Horizons Elder Care Services, and Mandy Baiden.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28, at St. Mark The Evangelist Church, 222 McVeagh Rd., Westbrook. Following Mass, Tom will be laid to rest at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 453 Fairfield Avenue, Hartford.
