Bernice W. (Mleczko) Miller, longtime resident of Clinton, summer resident of Guilford, and most recently of Brooklyn, passed away peacefully on July 31 at the age of 84. Bernice was born in Danbury on Feb. 5, 1937, daughter of the late Bronislaw Mleczko and Nettie (Beczek) Mleczko. She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Robert George Miller (2012).

Bernice was the loving mother of Justine Curry and her husband Gregory of Johnston, Rhode Island, Hans Miller and his wife Carrie of Woodinville, Washington, and Daniel Miller and his wife Maureen of Cheshire. She is survived by seven grandchildren, Amanda and Aidan Curry, Markus and Lukas Miller, and Elizabeth, Ryan, and Rebecca Miller.

Bernice is also survived by her brothers Bronislaw Mleczko (Diane Cote) of Surfside Beach, South Carolina and David Mleczko and his wife Carol of New Fairfield. She is survived by her nephew Graham Mleczko and his wife Katie and children Parker and Huxley of Fairfield.

Bernice graduated from Danbury High School in 1954 as the class president. She went on to graduate nursing school from Saint Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing (now part of Sacred Heart University) in 1957. Prior to her retirement in 2006, Bernice worked as a registered nurse at Danbury Hospital, Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Australia, Ashlar of Newtown, Clinton Health Care, and Madison House.

She enjoyed reading voraciously, shopping incessantly, and cooking delicious, home-cooked meals and yummy baked goods. Bernice loved her family and was always happy to show pictures of her seven grandchildren, of whom she was very proud.

Friends are invited to calling hours from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 7, at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church Street, Guilford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 7, in St. George Church, 33 Whitfield Street, Guilford. A private burial will take place at the convenience of the family at Woodlawn Cemetery, New York.
