Branford

Anthony D’Amato, 92, of Branford passed away Aug. 1 at Connecticut Hospice. He was born March 26, 1929, in New Haven to Nicholas and Madeline (Manzi) D’Amato.

Anthony is survived by his devoted wife of 72 years, Rosemary (Onofrio) D’Amato; and two loving children, Darnell Stonick (James) of Branford and Paul D’Amato (Linda) of Old Lyme. He is also survived by his five grandchildren whom he adored, Curt Stonick, Jamie Rodriguez (Tony), Paul D’Amato (Beata), Charlene Watson (James), and Scott D’Amato (Jennifer), along with 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Rachel (D’Amato) Riccio of Guilford, niece Kimberly Montana of Guilford, nephew Clyde Riccio of New Haven, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Anthony is preceded in death by his parents; his two sisters, Mamie (D’Amato) Romano and Rose (D’Amato) Durso; and two brothers, Alfred D’Amato and Paul D’Amato.

He was the former owner of Annex Used Cars and Auto Outlet. He was the happiest being surrounded by his family and spending time at Mohegan Sun.

Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 5, at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Avenue, East Haven, at which time his procession will leave Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home for a Mass of Christian burial at 1 p.m. in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul, 80 Taylor Avenue, East Haven. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd. Branford CT 06405 in memory of Anthony D’Amato.
