Branford

Jack C. Hult of Branford and Westbrook, beloved husband of the late Dorothy S. Hult, left this life peacefully on June 28. Jack was born Oct. 15, 1932, to Carl and Ruth Hult.

He graduated from Branford High School and entered the Army where he was part of a tank division. After the Army, he attended Nichols College, where he was very active with several sports and social groups, including lacrosse, football, and basketball. He graduated in 1954 with an associate degree in business administration.

He spent many years as a driver for Shell Oil. Upon retiring, he and his loving wife enjoyed spending time on the beach, going to the library, and visiting with family and friends.

Branford was his home for most of his life. He moved to Westbrook to be closer to family five years ago. He enjoyed the quiet seaside town very much and made many friends during his time there.

Jack loved football, UConn Women’s Basketball, and NCAA Women’s Softball. He also loved to read, listen to music, and gather with his friends for coffee hour each week.

He was a kind, compassionate, gentle, and generous man who made friends easily. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Jack was predeceased by his grandsons, Devlin and Casey Hult. He leaves his son Peter Hult and his wife Maureen of Westbrook, his daughter Bryna Hult and her partner Robert Scovel of Griswold, and his ever-present companion and friend Buddy the cat, who chose Jack as the only human he wanted to be around.

The family will be holding a private memorial for Jack at a future date. Arrangements are in the care of the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church Street, Guilford. To share a memory or leave condolences, visit www.guilfordfuneralhome.com.
