Deep River

Donald “Pop” F. Stebbins Sr., 84, passed away surrounded by his beautiful family on July 12, at Middlesex Hospital.

Pop is survived by his loving wife Sally of 63 years and his beloved dog, Nike. His beautiful life will forever be cherished by his three daughters, Donna Nelson (Keith), Terri Savino (Vito), and Marcia-Lee Crilly (Charles). He is lovingly remembered by his seven grandchildren, Todd Nelson (Kristy), Eric Nelson (Theresa Furbish), Ashley Savino (engaged to Tyler Saunders), Kyle Savino, Logan-Tory Burdick, Jake Burdick, and Charlie Crilly. He is survived by one great-grandchild, Grayson Nelson, and one due this November. Last, he is survived by his two brothers, Dave and Rick Stebbins. Pop is predeceased by his son, Sonny Stebbins, and his parents, William and Barbara Stebbins.

He was born in Deep River on Nov. 20, 1936. He graduated from Valley Regional High School in 1955. He went on to have a career in autobody repair. Pop enjoyed most his family and their love, gardening, fishing, and the New York Yankees. He was full of goodness and loved by all who knew him.

The family wishes to extend its appreciation to the Critical Care and South 4 staff at Middlesex Hospital.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 16, at the Deep River Congregational Church. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Deep River Historical Society and the Deep River Fire Department and Ambulance Association.

He was a wonderful, funny, kind, generous, and devoted family man who will be remembered with love and gratitude by all those who knew him.
