Old Saybrook

Ronald Edward Sullivan, 75, of Old Saybrook passed away on May 26, at home of a long illness with his loving family by his side. He grew up in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Carol Atherton.

They moved to Old Lyme and eventually relocated to Old Saybrook, where they raised their three daughters. Ronald worked for Silgan Plastics for 35-plus years. He was an avid deer and duck hunter and loved being out on Long Island Sound fishing. He was also an avid sports fan.

Ronald was predeceased by his loving wife of 50-plus years, Carol. He is survived by his daughters, Pamela McKiernan and her husband Jason of East Lyme, Penny Sullivan of Old Saybrook, and Virginia “Ginger” Burnham and her husband Stephen of East Hartford/Old Saybrook. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Alexis Lockwood and Olivia and Patrick McKiernan; his brother, Barry Sullivan and his wife Patricia of Cape May, New Jersey; and his sister Patricia Blonk of New York, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of life memorial will be held in the near future at the discretion of the family.
