Patricia Grace Bartek passed away at home Monday, June 21, cared for and comforted by her daughters at her side.

Patty was predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Marie Grace (Shekosky); her sister Rhea Grace, and her husband John F. Bartek. Born Sept. 1, 1955, Patty grew up in Middlefield, attending Coginchaug High School in Durham, and St. Joseph’s College in West Hartford. After graduating, Patty worked for many years as a social worker, specifically with veterans.

Patty met her husband John through mutual friends, and they established their young family in Essex; first on Pratt Street and then on Hunters Trail. Patty was a charter member of the Essex Corinthian Yacht Club and an active member at Westbrook Elks BPOE # 1784. Patty was an extraordinary hostess, holding all family holidays and gatherings, offering elaborate meals and creative cocktails. Patty took great joy in menu planning, reading, and spending time with her family at the beach (Seabrook Beach, N.H.).

Patty is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Elizabeth and Ben (Wetmore), and Ashley and Adam Harris; her grandson, Cole Anderson Harris of Deep River; and an aunt, June Dressing of Clinton.

The Bartek family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Middlesex Hospital and Connecticut Oncology for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shoreline Soup Kitchens and Pantries, PO BOX 804, Essex, CT 06426.

Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 25, at Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street, Centerbrook. To send a condolence or share a memory of Patty, please visit rwwfh.com.
