Laurie R. Casula (Barbato), 60, passed away peacefully at her home on May 19. Laurie was born Feb. 17, 1961, to Dominic and Barbara Barbato at Yale in New Haven. Laurie was a lifelong resident of Clinton. She graduated from The Morgan School in 1979 and attended Middlesex Community College in Middletown, earning a degree in human services and psychology.

Laurie is survived by her son Sean Casula; her daughter, Sarah Casula; her friend and father figure to her children, Robert Canapino; her dog Chase; and close family friends. Laurie is preceded by her son Jason Casula and her beloved dogs Cody and Nikita.

Laurie will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her laughter, and her love for life and all of the little joys it brought. Friends found comfort in Laurie, and everyone will miss her long phone calls and messages. She lived life with appreciation and gratitude and was a loving mother to three wonderful children. She enjoyed the simple pleasures: sitting with her beloved dog Chase, spending time at the beach, being around family, and the color purple.

She will be remembered as an amazing mother and friend to all. Laurie will be missed for eternity as she touched many hearts with her grace, wisdom, love, and loyalty. She left us all with incredible memories that will be cherished forever.

A memorial service for Laurie will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 19 in Swan Funeral Home in Clinton. Donations may be made in Laurie’s name to your local animal shelter.
