Deidre (Barry) McMahon, 39, of Clinton passed away on May 8 with her husband by her side after a lifelong battle with cystic fibrosis. She is survived by her husband Ryan McMahon of Clinton and her brother Paul Barry of Burrillville, Rhode Island and was predeceased by her mother Jean M. Barry, formerly of Lincoln, Rhode Island. She is also survived by her sister in-law Kristen Barry, her niece Teagan, her nephew Anthony, and Ryan’s family, Tom and Donna McMahon, Ryan’s sister Shannon Angiollo (Michael), and her nephew Nicholas Angiollo. She was beloved by all of those who called her “Auntie Deidre”.

Deidre was born Feb. 17, 1982, in Providence, Rhode Island, and lived her childhood years in Pawtucket, Rhode Island where she attended Tolman High School, graduating in 2000. After completing high school, she attended Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island, earning a bachelor of science in psychology in 2005.

During her time at Salve Regina, she met and fell in love with her husband Ryan. Deidre and Ryan were married Nov. 17, 2012, in Newport and settled in Clinton where they lived with their two dogs, Ruby and Charlie.

Deidre was a successful social worker currently supporting children and families through Human Resources Agency of Connecticut. Additionally, she found joy and happiness in many areas of life, including actively supporting cystic fibrosis and organ transplant patients through her volunteer work with the Rhode Island Organ Donation Awareness Coalition (RIODAC), participating in an adult gymnastics classes and even completing multiple 5k races after her double lung transplant in December 2001. Always a competitor, she loved to win and truly enjoyed any skill-based game, even competing in the Corn Hole tournament at the 2016 Transplant Games of America in Cleveland, Ohio.

Services for Deidre were held May 15 at Swan Funeral Home in Madison.
