A memorial service will be held to celebrate the life of Ann Marie Weir, loving wife and mother, who died Saturday, April 25, 2020. She was 70 years old.

The service will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 11 at St. Mary’s Church of The Visitation, 54 Grove Street, Clinton. A reception will follow at Westbrook Elks Lodge, 142 Seaside Avenue, Westbrook.

Ann was born Dec. 13, 1949, in New London, the daughter of Peter Chupaska and Margaret Haggerty Chupaska. After growing up in Uncasville, she earned a bachelor of science degree and master’s equivalency in special education from Southern Connecticut State University. She married Alan P. Weir on Aug. 15, 1975, in Washington. They eventually settled in Clinton and welcomed a daughter, Erin.

Ann began her career as a special education teacher at Branford High School and remained there for nine years until the birth of her daughter in 1980. She later entered the next chapter in her career as program manager at Sarah Inc. and vocational case manager at Southeastern Employment Services before retiring in 2017. She had a lasting impact on all whose lives she touched and was still in contact with many of her students and clients until the end of her life. She never left anyone behind.

That passion was also shown in her volunteerism, ignited by her participation in the March on Washington and work with Literacy Volunteers, the Special Olympics, and involvement in volunteer organizations at her daughter’s schools and numerous other charities.

But most of all, Ann’s love and dedication to her family will be remembered. She cared so deeply for others, always putting them first. Ann joyfully celebrated every holiday, never forgot a birthday or anniversary, and loved nothing more than to gather her family together. She was passionate about the arts, enjoyed reading and music, and the outer beaches of Cape Cod. The Cape was a special place to Ann; she always looked forward to annual summer vacations there.

Ann is survived by her husband Alan, daughter Erin Weir Goehner and her husband Benjamin, brother Leo Chupaska and his wife Chris, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, her brother Peter X. Morosky, and sister Barbara Zeppieri.
