Robert Raymond Lewis, Sr., a professional carpenter by trade and a current resident of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on May 9 at the age of 91.

Robert is survived by his wife, Lois (Hill) Lewis; his children, Robert Raymond Lewis, Jr., and his wife Mariana Harper-Lewis, Linda Fussell and her husband Wayne Fussell, and Elaine Mulligan; his twin sister Roberta Wolfe; sister-in-law Jane Lewis; his grandchildren, Robert Raymond Lewis III, Jason Lewis, Erin Mulligan, Patrick Mulligan, Kelly Mulligan, Morgan Fussell; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Raymond Bristol Lewis and Florence Nellie Cooke; his sister Shirley Shaw; and his brother Stannard B. Lewis.

Robert was born Oct. 17, 1929, to Raymond and Florence Lewis and was raised on the family farm in Madison. He joined the Navy in 1950 and served honorably for four years on the USS LST 279 as a gunner’s mate. Robert was employed by Pratt & Whitney in Hartford as a machinist for 10 years; he then moved to southern Florida where he was a professional carpenter for the rest of his career. Afterward, he retired to Blairsville.

He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
