Ivoryton

Michael Adams, 59, devoted husband and father, passed away on April 21, after a long battle with cancer. Michael grew up in the Stonington area, but lived with his wife, Melissa, the love of his life, in Ivoryton for many years. Here, they shared a beautiful home with their loving family.

Michael was a caring and dedicated father to his daughter Emily, who was the light of his life. He was a role model to his stepchildren and step grandchildren. He worked as an electrician for Eversource (CL&P) for more than 35 years and enjoyed every minute of it.

Michael’s favorite place was the family cabin by the lake in Maine. Michael and his father spent countless hours hunting and enjoying the outdoors. Inspired by his mother’s heritage and family history, Michael had an extensive stein collection. He loved to travel and always made people laugh with his quick wit. He was an avid music lover, and attended many concerts with his wife, but his passion was politics. He was a frequent caller on the 94.9 radio show. Michael was a member of the Men’s Auxiliary at the Mystic VFW and spent his time cooking and helping with fundraising events. Michael volunteered his time with the Mystic Little League. He loved to coach, and the most enjoyable years for him were coaching his daughter’s softball team. Michael was very knowledgeable and loved to pass that knowledge on. He was an inspiration and was adored by everyone he encountered.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Isolde. He is survived by his wife Melissa; daughter Emily; six stepchildren, Brittany, Jonathan, Heather, Daniel, Alexandra, and Zachary; three step grandchildren, Natalie, Eric, and Olivia; his father, Bobby Rex; four sisters, Susan Brown and her husband Russell, Lisa Sunderland, Barbara Martin and her husband William, and Linda Adams and her partner Amy; two nieces, and two nephews.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, April 30, at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic. A service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic following the service.

Memorial donations may be made to Mystic VFW, 60 Stonington Road, Mystic, CT 06355.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Lawrence + Memorial Hospital Hospice Floor for its care and compassion.
