Joan Larkin Pierson, 84, of North Haven, wife of 55 years to the late Kenneth C. Pierson who passed in 2014, passed away April 11 at home surrounded by her loving family and her beloved dog Tucker, who was always at her side.

Born on Sept. 18, 1936, to John and Marion Larkin, she was the loving mother of Kenneth J. Pierson of North Haven and Michael W. Pierson of Hamden; twin sister Joyce (George) Palmer of Hamden; grandmother of Heather (Matt) Marcin, Holly Pierson, and Kelly Pierson; and great-grandmother of Austin, Mallory, Bianca, Gavin, and Evan.

Joan graduated from Hillhouse High School and Bay Path College. She was employed by the New York, New Haven, Hartford Railroad as a comptometer operator, was a member of the Ridge Top Swimming and Tennis Club for 42 years. She loved vacationing with her family and friends in Vermont and Maine. Joan had many fond memories of spending summers at West Lake in Guilford.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated April 20 in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Hamden, followed by committal in St. Lawrence Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Animal Haven Inc., 89 Mill Road, North Haven, CT 06473.
