New Haven

Nancy Jane Hall Leone, 82, of New Haven passed away on April 10 at St. Raphael Campus of Yale New Haven Hospital. She was born in Lynbrook, New York on Oct. 7, 1938, to the late Robert and Alice (Billington) Hall.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Edward Leone; devoted daughters Lisa Chazan of Congers, New York and Laura Iaia of Trumbull; as well as her “sons” (as she so lovingly referred to them), Richard Chazan and Mark Iaia and her four cherished grandchildren, Corinne Iaia, Lindsay Chazan, Calli Chazan, and Nicholas Iaia. She is also survived by her beloved sisters Alice Vita and Barbara Hall and her many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Nancy was so many things during her lifetime, however, her family would most certainly say that she was first and foremost a loving mother, wife and grandmother. Her greatest joys came from spending time with her family and loved ones, with whom she shared her “wise-guy” sense of humor and kind spirit, always lending a comforting shoulder to those who were lucky enough to confide in her.

Those who had the pleasure of knowing Nancy knew that she was a woman of many artistic abilities. Whether she was knitting or crocheting, painting or sketching, you could always expect to find her pouring her creativity into a new craft or project. She will forever be known for her warm sense of humor, killer fashion sense, infectious smile, inviting blue eyes and, of course, her unbeatable crossword puzzle skills.

Nancy struggled for many years with a variety of health issues, but her unwavering strength carried her through until the end. We will all miss her so very much, but find comfort in knowing that she is finally at peace.

Services are in the care of the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, East Haven.
