North Branford

Louise Ann Byrd of North Branford died peacefully on April 2 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. She was the beloved wife of 51 years to Robert S. Byrd. Louise was born in New Haven Sept. 1, 1948, daughter of the late Albert and Ida Longobardi Mascola. She was the owner for more than 30 years of Weezie’s Daycare in North Branford, where she treated each and every child like her own.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Byrd, Tracie Candelora, and Stephanie Byrd, all of North Branford; her grandchildren, Juliana Candelora and Jeremiah Byrd; and her brothers, Louis “Sonny” Mascola of San Antonio, Texas, and Charles Mascola of Branford. She was predeceased by her grandchildren, Kayla Candelora and Jaxen Byrd.

Louise was particularly known for her fierce spirit, her strength, and her kind and giving heart. She always put others before herself and opened her heart and home to anyone who needed it.

Her funeral procession will leave from the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford, at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 7 for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. John Bosco Parish at St. Mary Church, 731 Main Street, Branford. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Branford. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6.
