Louis A. Pongetti, 93, of Guilford entered into a peaceful rest on Nov. 3, 2020. He was born Sept. 18, 1927, in New Haven to the late Louis Pongetti and Mary (Grestini) Pongetti. He was the beloved husband of Helen (Abbenante) Pongetti, with whom he had 69 wonderful years.

Mr. Pongetti served in the United States Air Force as sergeant in 1946, stationed in Japan and the Philippines. He worked for Sikorsky Aircraft for more than 33 years until his retirement in 1992. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife Helen, he is survived by his three children, Michael Pongetti (Dawn LaChance) of North Branford, Louis Pongetti (Laura) of Guilford, and Vanessa Gallipoli of East Haven. He also leaves one sister, Mary Lou Benedict; 3 grandchildren, Jeremy Pongetti, Matthew Pongetti, and Scott Gallipoli; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn Antonino; his son-in-law Scott Gallipoli; and his grandson Michael Gallipoli.
