Old Saybrook

Robert “Bob” C. Wilcox, 85 of Old Saybrook, passed away after a short illness on March 17. He was born Sept. 11, 1935, the son of Harold and Rose Wilcox.

Bob leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years, Angie (Malchiodi) Wilcox and his sons Bob of Old Saybrook and Marc and his wife Kim and their four children Jayson and Jami of Mesa, Arizona, Tori Gilliland of London, England, and Rich Gilliland of Virginia. Bob is also survived by his sister-in-law Esther Faraci and her family, as well as by his nephew, Frank Bleau of Old Saybrook.

Bob proudly served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany and later the National Guard upon his return to the states. He also took great pride and pleasure as a member of the Westbrook Honor Guard attending military veteran funerals, as well as the duty of collecting and retiring used flags for the towns of Old Saybrook and Westbrook. On April 1, 1980, Bob and Angie opened ABC Hardware in Essex. In 1985 they moved to Old Saybrook, until their retirement.

Bob will always be remembered for his kindness and sense of humor. He will be missed by all who knew him.
