Christy Rainone, 83, passed away at Connecticut Hospice in Branford on March 7. He was the son of the late Costanzo and Maria (Di Chiaro) Rainone.

Chris was a graduate of New Canaan High School. He served in the Army National Guard from 1961 to 1965. Chris studied architectural drawing at Platt Technical School and engineering at Bridgeport University, during which time he worked at Gorn Aircraft. He was a supervisor in the printed circuits and silk-screening departments at Stelma, Inc., in Stamford, before forming Printed Circuits International with a partner.

Later he ran a small excavating business with his brother Peter, working weekends, then partnered with his brother-in-law Ed Razzaia in a pallet company. When Chris’s father passed away in 1957, Chris and his brother Louie continued to serve the needs of a select few of their father’s landscaping customers. Chris’s entrepreneurial spirit continued with the purchase of a lawn and garden dealership, which he eventually sold and took up a position at Sears.

Chris loved the outdoors. He took up golf with the same passion he brought to everything he did. He was an avid skier, traveling to the most prestigious slops in the country. He enjoyed gardening, and along with his companion Alice, enjoyed helping local growers bring in their grape harvests. Chris was a quiet, gentle man who was very much loved by his family and friends.

He leaves sisters Emily Pasqua of New Canaan, Connie Razzaia of Fairfield, and Carmella Scarpetti of Manchester, New Hampshire; sisters-in-law Nora Rainone and Valarie Rainone; his companion Alice Spallone; and many nieces and nephews. Chris was the brother of the late Concetta Rainone, Mary Iarussi, Louie, Peter, and Tony Rainone.
