North Haven

Joseph F. DeLucia, 93, of North Haven passed away peacefully on March 9 at his home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 72 years to Elvira Vellaccio DeLucia. Joseph was born in New Haven on June 15, 1927, and was the son of the late Joseph F. and Susan Aiello DeLucia.

He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the USS Chelsea. Joseph had worked for the New Haven Board of Education for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.

He was the father of Diane Forlano (Albert), Josephine Bicknell (Robert), Joseph M. DeLucia (Sandra), and Charlene Dahlstrom (Jack); grandfather of Jennifer Cooper (Russell), Justin Forlano, Carisa Bicknell, Renee Bicknell, David Bicknell, Cherie Bicknell (Billy), Joseph M. DeLucia, Jr., Ashley Rosa DeLucia, Daniel Dahlstrom, and Jonathan Dahlstrom (Karolyn); and brother of Grace Argento, Rose Fuchs, Dolly Palmieri, and the late Michael DeLucia, George DeLucia, Gloria Scafarello, and Louise Esposito. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter-in-law Theresa DeLucia.
