Madison

It is with deep sadness that the family of Jody Catalano, 52, of Madison, announce her sudden passing on March 10 in Mt. Holly, Vermont as a result of a snowmobiling accident. She was born at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown on July 22, 1968, to George B. Hall and Joyce (Sommerville) Hall.

Jody attended Southington High School class of 1986 and received her bachelor of science degree in social science from Cazenovia College in 1993. She worked at Sarah-Tuxis for more than 10 years as a group home lead. She loved her group home family, Megan, Sarah, and Eddie, and worked tirelessly on their behalf. Jody was a fierce advocate for individuals with special needs, and especially for her daughter.

Jody is survived by her husband, Mike Catalano; her three children, Gianna, Mikey, and Kyle; her parents, George and Joyce Hall; her brother, Doug Hall, and her nephews, Justin and Ryan; her in-laws, Mike and Linda Catalano; her aunt, Molly Sommerville Buchanan; and her uncle, Arthur “Mitch” Hall. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.

More than anything, Jody loved her family, she could often be seen cheering on her children at their many sporting events, concerts, and activities including baseball, football, wrestling, choir, chorus, and cheerleading. She enjoyed getting coffee with her friends and had a few coffee groups where Jody was a fixture. The beach was her happy place and where she most wanted to be with her toes in the sand, the wind in her face, a good book, and her family and friends.

A viewing will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. with a short prayer service at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17, at Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Road, Madison. A private funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 18, at Swan Funeral Home, attendance will be limited to immediate family members and invited guests due to COVID-19 restrictions.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Jody Catalano to Autism Services & Resource Connecticut, 101 N. Plains Industrial Rd, Wallingford, CT 06492, or online at https://ctasrc.z2systems.com/np/clients/ctasrc/donation.jsp?donation.acknowledgeInfo.honorMemoryPersonName=Jody%20Catalano.
