Old Saybrook

Kathleen McLean Bannister, 74, of Old Saybrook passed away peacefully at Middlesex Hospital on Feb. 23. She was born in Middletown on March 27, 1946. She was the daughter of the late Miles McLean. Kathleen was raised by her stepmom, Josephine McLean. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Robert McLean.

Kathleen went to Valley Regional High School. She was married to the late Wilfred Bannister, Sr. Kathleen enjoyed her close friends and family and worked at Whelen Engineering in Chester. She enjoyed bowling at the former Saybrook Lanes, fishing, crabbing, and working in her flower garden. She loved to bake and cook.

She had a huge heart and will be forever remembered by her daughters, Beth-Ann A. Hull of Chester, Barbara L. Kanizaj and her husband Robert of Old Saybrook; her sister, Judy Iaccarino of Wallingford; and her grandchildren, James and Matthew Kanizaj and Nathan and Amanda Hull. She also leaves her many extended family members.

A future announcement will be made regarding a date for Kathleen’s graveside service, which will be held in Centerbrook Cemetery. Her daughters would like to give thanks for all the care given to their mother by Middlesex Hospital, Wadsworth Glen, and Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Kathleen’s name to All Saints Episcopal Church, 129 Main Street, Ivoryton, CT 06442.
