Guilford

John D. Leslie, Jr., longtime resident of Guilford, passed away on Feb. 12.

The fiancé companion of Janice P. Hooghkirk, Mr. Leslie was born in Meriden on May 5, 1936, son of the late John D. Leslie, Sr. and Louise (Hill) Leslie. He was the brother of Rhoderick Leslie and his wife Martha of Moodus and the late E. Garry Leslie. He is also survived by four nephews and a niece.

John was proud of his service in the Army Military Police. During his early working career, he worked at his family’s foundry, Garry Metal Products in Southington. John later went on to work as a restoration craftsman. He enjoyed relaxing by doing his sculpting, sunset down at Shell Beach, and his British comedies.

Friends were invited to a graveside service on March 2 in Alder Brook Cemetery, Guilford. Arrangements were in the care of the Guilford Funeral Home.
