North Haven

Elizabeth “Betina” Castellani Rowland, 96, of North Haven, formerly of Woodbridge, passed away peacefully on Feb. 12 at the Masonicare Health Center, Wallingford with her family by her side.

She was the beloved wife of the late Erwin “Bud” Rowland. She was the mother of Wayne Rowland and Mark Rowland (Michele) and grandmother of MaryBeth Rowland and Michael Rowland. She was predeceased by her brothers, Julius and Louis Castellani, and sisters, Mary Pantani and Dorothy Strasinski.

Elizabeth was born in New Haven Nov. 15, 1924, and was the daughter of the late Quinto and Elvira Mencoboni Castellani. She had worked as an examiner for the State of Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles for many years. Elizabeth was a loving mother and grandmother who loved family gatherings. She enjoyed dancing, art lesson, world travel, cruising, reading, and playing bridge.

Family and friends may call from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday morning, Feb. 18, at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at noon in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Avenue, North Haven.
