Jo Frances “Jodie” Mueller, 82, of Madison and Grantham (Eastman), New Hampshire, died Feb. 3 at her home in Madison, surrounded by her family. She was born in Wichita Falls, Texas Oct. 29, 1938, the daughter of Mary Nell and Robert Harrison Creed.

Jodie graduated from Wichita Falls High School, Wichita Falls, Texas, and Yale School of Nursing, New Haven. Everyone who knew Jodie knows that at the center of it all was her husband, John. They were married 51 years before his death in 2011.

Active in her community and committed to volunteerism, Jodie was passionate about caring for others. She took great pride in her work in Connecticut Hospice’s founding days in Branford, in the early 1970s. Her hospice work continued when she and her husband John lived in New Hampshire with the Lake Sunapee, VNA, and when she returned to Madison 10 years ago. Jodie served on several boards, the Lake Sunapee Region Visiting Nurse Association and the Sugar Riverbank, New Hampshire. An active member of the Junior League of New Haven and her churches wherever she lived, Jodie was incredibly proud of her community-focused volunteer programs. Especially the philanthropic educational organization, which focuses on women’s advancement and educational opportunities, PEO Chapter T, Madison.

Members of her surviving family include her two daughters and their spouses, Janice Mueller Crampton and Ron of Madison, and Jennifer Fischer-Mueller and Cathy of West Roxbury, Massachusetts; four grandchildren, Jack, Phillip, Nora, and Maya; a sister and her spouse, Penny and Gordon Plumlee of Killeen, Texas; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Rea Mueller of Palmyra, Virginia; and three nephews and one niece, Joseph, Jeffrey, Scott, and Angela.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, services will be held virtually at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 21 through St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Madison.
